We are a small family team operating on a part-time basis and would love to show you what our region has to offer. As we both work fulltime in other professions, we are able to take you diving on the weekends & public holidays. (Pool instruction is carried out on week nights).
Paul is a qualified PADI instructor who has been diving for over 20 years, and wife Janelle is a Rescue diver, and is working towards her Dive Master.

Together they started their business Abyss Dive, and are both very excited to share their passion with others by offering Scuba Diving Courses and Trips in the Nelson/Marlborough Sounds area. Their boat 'Off The Rocks' is a hard-top, spacious and is a comfortable ride on the water.

Scuba Diving Courses are available from Try Dive to Rescue Diver, along with guided dives for those who are already qualified.

Paul is an experienced cray diver, so for those of you who are keen to see a cray in the open water......Paul can take you on a guided dive. Janelle loves underwater photography, and loves to take others diving who also share this interest.
Although a small operation - we make up for it in your experience. We are flexible, & able to offer a personal experience through small diver numbers!

We met with Paul and Janelle on our first theory night and due to both of us being new to the underwater world ; we were very nervous and unsure about what we were getting ourselves in for. Paul has a huge amount of knowledge and made us feel relaxed and very quickly we had the confidence that we were going to learn to dive safely with a very experienced instructor. The course was fun, with up to date equipment, relaxed environment, and Paul always made sure we understood all aspects of the equipment and conditions while learning. Paul was always well planned in advance so that our first experiences were memorable ones; including the boat dive off their awesome boat 'Off the Rocks'. We have really enjoyed the course and are looking forward to getting out and experiencing a new world with confidence. We would recommend to anyone considering the Open Water Dive to give Paul & Janelle a ring, as we know you won't regret it.”
